Eight weeks after a 52-year-old woman was found dead in the upscale Port Royal neighborhood of Naples, there are still far more questions than answers.
The body of Elizabeth Beach was found March 19 near her home on Galleon Drive. She and her husband David are from England, and two of Beach's friends in London recently emailed Fox 4 after seeing our initial report online, saying they were shocked by her death and wanted to know if there were any updates.
Naples Police told us Thursday that was no new information to release, but that there could be an update soon.
One neighbor who did not want to be identified said she keeps checking for news of what happened to Beach.
"I think it's very strange," she said. "But I know (investigators) have to be very tight-lipped. If it turns out to be a homicide and a murder investigation,
Police initially said there was no threat to the community, and the neighbor said that word in the community is that Beach drowned.
A couple of days after Beach's death, dive teams and police boats spent hours searching the canal behind her home. In an email to Fox 4, one of Beach's friends in London questioned why so many resources would be used if was a simple case of drowning.
Police initially said that an autopsy would be performed on Beach's body, but those results are still pending.
