FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - A Florida man who authorities say killed another man has been convicted.
News outlets report 19-year-old Dalvon Lawrence was convicted of a weapons offense and negligent manslaughter in the 2016 death of 43-year-old Friedrich "Fritz" Timmerman.
Lawrence, a then Cypress Lake High School student, was removed from class and arrested in September 2016.
Lee County Sheriff's deputies say Lawrence told a witness he was smoking and drinking near a basketball court when he randomly shot at a passing car. After the shooting, Timmerman's vehicle careened and hit a concrete wall.
Lawrence faces a maximum of 20 years in prison. No date has been set for his sentencing.
