FORT MYERS, Fla. -- One person was critically injured early Monday morning when two motorcycles collided in a freak crash on McGregor Boulevard.

The Fox 4 Breaking News Tracker got this video you'll only see on Fox 4 Morning News.

It happened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday on McGregor Boulevard south of Whiskey Creek Drive.

Florida Highway Patrol says two motorcycles were southbound on McGregor when one of the drivers slowed to avoid an animal crossing the road.  The other motorcycle's driver  failed to slow down in time to avoid a collision.

That motorcycle hit the rear end of the other motorcycle as it slowed down.  A passenger on the 2nd motorcyle, 23-year-old Natalie Thoennes of Bonita Springs, was critically injured and taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The driver of that motorcycle suffered minor injuries.

The other driver was uninjured.

Charges are pending further investigation, as alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.

One person at the scene was seen being taken into custody by troopers.
