A Fort Myers Beach man is in custody accused of burglary and raping a woman Thursday night.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a sex assault call Thursday near the Fort Myers Beach Plaza.
The victim claims she was walking towards Fort Myers from Fort Myers Beach when she saw two men walking in the same direction. She says they struck up a conversation and one of the men led her to an alley, where he grabbed her and forced her to have sex with him.
A suspect was quickly located in the area and identified by the victim. The suspect is Samuel Vance of 100 Chapel St. on Fort Myers Beach.
Along with the sexual assault, Vance was also a suspect in a Fort Myers Beach burglary that had occurred just prior to the assault.
Vance was arrested on charges of one count of sexual assault, burglary of an occupied dwelling unarmed, burglary of an unoccupied conveyance unarmed and second degree larceny.
