LEE COUNTY, Fla - Lee county Deputies say they have arrested a Virginia man in connection to a sexual battery on Fort Myers Beach nearly 20 years ago.
Cornelious Florman was arrested on Tuesday in Virginia, on a warrant charging him with sexual battery, kidnapping, and carjacking.
On June 22, 1998, deputies say they received a call in reference to a sexual battery on Fort Myers Beach.
The woman told deputies she was leaving the Reef Bar on Estero Blvd., when she was approached by a man known to her as "Cody" for a ride to the beach.
The woman said she agreed, and when she was driving, the man punched her in the face, causing her to lose consciousness.
Deputies say the woman then woke up in a wooded area, and discovered she was sexually assaulted.
Detectives say they linked Florman to the crime with his DNA.
They sent sexual battery kits for DNA analysis, and the results matched the Virginia man.
Deputies say Florman was taken into custody in Virginia, and will be transported to be booked into the Lee County Jail.
