The Lee County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation at SW 29th Street off of Chiquita Boulevard. Deputies say the search for evidence is in relation to an active investigation within the last two weeks.
Deputies told Four in Your Corner it is a "grid and article search," meaning there are people searching on the ground, and dive teams searching the canals in the area.
K9s were being used in the search, which spanned from SW 29th street to SW 26th street and began at 3:30 PM.
Deputies said there is no threat to the public. They cleared the scene just before 6:00 PM.
