LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Lee County Sheriff's Office Major Crimes Unit say that the death investigation at a Bonita Spring home following a fire has been ruled a homicide.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Sarah Nicholson.

Authorities responded to a house fire just before 6 A.M. Sunday in the 26200 block of Squire Lane in the Harbor Club community, a 55 and over community in Bonita Springs, and announced a death at the scene.

Monday morning, the investigation was escalated to a homicide. Several crime scene units were seen outside the residence as late as 6 P.M. Neighbors tell Fox 4 they were not close to Nicholson, but call her a nice girl. "She never came across as a kind of individual to be involved in anything shady or anything like that," said one neighbor.

Nicholson is originally from Arkansas. Friends tell Fox 4 her house was broken into and her car was stolen after the incident.

No further information has been released, but deputies say it was an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the public.
