CAPE CORAL, Fla.-- The city of Cape Coral could soon join a other local governments in temporarily banning medical marijuana dispensaries.
Monday, city council leaders will consider a six-month moratorium on dispensaries. The goal is to give the Cape enough time to establish its own regulations.
Amendment 2, which passed in November, expands medical marijuana use to patients with certain chronic illnesses.
If passed, Cape Coral would join the cities of Estero and Punta Gorda as well as Charlotte and Collier counties, in having a medical marijuana dispensary moratorium.
