CAPE CORAL, Fla. — The City of Cape Coral Public Works Department released an update on water quality, stating blue-green algae is still present in Lake Okeechobee.

Officials said as of July 16, Lake Okeechobee raised to 11.54 ft. versus 11.47 ft., just a week before.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is still releasing minimal amounts of water from Lake O at the Moore Haven Lock.

According to officials, blue-green algae is still covering 35 percent of the lake. However, red tide was not detected in Lee County.
