Bicycle crash in Cape Coral leaves one injured

A Cape Coral man suffered life-threatening injuries following a crash on Del Prado Boulevard South on Friday.

Police responded to the SUV vs. bicycle crash at around 10:45 p.m.

The bicyclist, Roary O'Rourke, 69, of Cape Coral, was traveling in the wrong direction on SE 44th Street when he came in contact with an SUV.

O'Rourke struck the hood of the SUV. He was trauma alerted to a local hospital where he suffered life threatening injuries.

The bicycle was equipped with a working headlight and taillight but O'Rourke was not wearing a helmet, Cape Coral deputies said.

O'Rourke's blood alcohol level was found to be .157, according to a report.

The driver of the SUV did not suffer any injuries.
