A 17-year-old boy was arrested for the death of a woman at the Travelodge motel in Fort Myers, the Fort Myers Police Department said.
Police responded to the shooting that took place on Friday in the 4700 block of S. Cleveland Avenue (U.S. 41), just south of Colonial Boulevard.
The teen shot and killed 20-year-old Sidney Theodora of Fort Myers, FMPD said.
He later turned himself into investigators Saturday afternoon.
"I cannot begin to express how proud I am of all our officers and investigators that worked around the clock to develop and arrest Mr. Taylor for this senseless homicide. Once again, FMPD, along with our partners at FDLE, ATF and the State Attorney’s Office, have come together to identify and apprehended a violent felon and remove him off our streets in less than 24 hours! The pressure placed on Mr. Taylor left him no options to hide. Mr. Taylor was left with no choice but to turn himself in,” Captain Jay Rodriguez, FMPD.
