Two people died Saturday night in a motorcycle crash in Port Charlotte, the Florida Highway Patrol confirmed.

Troopers say that around 11:20 PM, a motorcyclist and his passenger were traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Kings Highway approaching Westchester Boulevard when they approached a left curve.

The motorist failed to slow down and struck the curb, causing the motorcycle to overturn, troopers said.

Both the driver and the passenger were transported to separate hospitals where they later died.

They have been identified as 46-year-old Rusticus Jones and 45-year-old Robin Chalupa, both of Port Charlotte.

At this time it is unclear is alcohol played a factor in this crash.
