LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Florida Highway Patrol is now saying alcohol played a role in a crash that killed a Lehigh Acres woman Monday night.
The crash happened just before midnight at the intersection of Bell Boulevard South and Porter Street East.
According to an FHP release, 47-year-old Nicole Jones was driving south on Bell Boulevard when she ran off the road, hitting a tree. She was thrown from the car.
She was airlifted to Lee Memorial but died while there.
She was not wearing a seatbelt.
