1 dead, 2 injured during overnight shooting incident

UPDATE -- Police have confirmed that several crime scenes spanning in the area of Alico Road and Ben Hill Griffin Parkway caused road closures, Saturday morning.

Lee County Deputies responded to the scene at approximately 2:45 a.m. in reference to a "shots fired" call.

Three people were found injured on the scene and taken to area hospitals. 28-year-old Marcus Hood died, said Lieutenant Dektas.

The community is not in danger.

This is an ongoing investigation.

 

Deputies are investigating an "overnight incident" that left several roads closed, according to Lee County Lieutenant Jeffery M. Dektas.

Ben Hill Griffin Parkway from Alico Road to Miramar Footbridge was closed from 7 a.m. Saturday morning and reopened after 8 a.m., according to police.

Other sections of the Alico Road, Ben Hill Griffin Parkway and Treeline Road Parkway will have a large Sheriff's Office presence, according to Dektas.

The community is not in danger and the incident is contained.
