NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Lee County Sheriff's investigators are confirming the death of an 11-year-old boy in North Fort Myers. They say a truck hit and killed him Sunday night while he was riding his bike.
Neighbors tell Fox 4 that conditions on Slater Road road -- especially in the dark -- are dangerous. And that was certainly the case near Golden Road around 6:30 p.m. Sunday, which is the time we're told a truck hit and dragged 11-year-old boy Nathan Carroll.
People who live in the area went to the Fox 4 Facebook page and told us this street is dangerous at night. They say it needs street lights and sidewalks.
Witnesses tell us, the driver of the truck did stop.
According to the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Nathan was riding eastbound in the westbound lanes of Slater Road when he was hit. Investigators say he was not wearing a helmet, reflectors or lights at the time.
