The 44th annual City of Palms Classic showcased some of the best high school basketball players from around the country at the Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers.
"I love basketball and they bring in some of the best schools in the country to play basketball. there is just some phenomenal players that have gone on to the NBA," said Ted McGrath, who has been to many City of Palms Classics over the years.
The stars of the future squared off on the floor, but it was Duke's legendary Coach Mike Krzyzewski who got a lot of looks from the fans.
Coach K sat court side to scout stars, hoping they'll take their skills to his college.
"Coach K, that's pretty neat, I wasn't expecting that. It is nice to be able to shake his hand. He's one of the legends of the game and certainly a guy I have learned a lot from even though he didn't know it, I learned a lot from Coach K, so it is pretty neat," said James Harris, the head coach at Mariner High School in Cape Coral.
Harris says his team has worked hard to be able to secure a spot in the tourney.
"It's an honor for us to be here," said Harris.
Mariner High School players taking in the the sights and sounds as well as the competition. The Tritons and Lehigh Senior High School came to represent Southwest Florida against some tough customers.
"We couldn't get any better practice than this. You get to play the best teams in the country. I mean right off the bat we get a top five team in the country, so that's great experience for us," said Harris.
The City of Palms Classic runs through Wednesday.
