LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott is coming to Fort Myers Friday, touting the details of his new tax cutting proposals.  He says one set of ideas will save consumers money.

The governor's plan to cut $618 million in taxes would impact both businesses and also residents.

So let's break down some of the different ways the governor wants you to be able to save money.  Governor Scott is proposing four sales tax holidays which would save Florida families and veterans an estimated $98 million a year.  He'd like to add a 10-day back to school sales tax holiday, saving Floridians $72 million.  Scott also wants to save students $48 million by eliminating the sales tax on college textbooks for one year.  And he'd like to save Florida residents $9 million by implementing a 9-day disaster preparedness sales tax holiday.

The Florida legislature has said no to similar cuts the last two years.

The governor is scheduled to be in Fort Myers at 1:00 p.m. at Storm Smart on Idlewild Street.
