FORT MYERS, Fla. -- The Fort Myers Police Department has a message for Southwest Florida when it comes to crime in the community, and they want you to hear it.
Wednesday morning, the FMPD will be updating the public on several major issues within the city. In a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m., they'll give an update on recent arrests, weapon seizures and their continuing effort to reduce violent crime.
Fort Myers Police Chief Derrick Diggs, who's been in office since late June, will also take questions on the city's violent crime.
There are a number of high profile unsolved crimes the city is still investigating. They include Zombicon last year, which left one man dead, and the shooting at Club Blu that resulted in the death of two young men. Another recent investigation includes two young men being arrested outside Vegas Lounge, where two young teens were spotted in the parking lot carrying a loaded assault rifle and handgun.
