FORT MYERS, Fla. -- You can help a local park get a major makeover. Jefferson Park in Fort Myers is in the running to receive a $20,000 redevelopment grant.
Neighbors say the park's playground is long overdue for renovations, and some of the equipment is considered a safety hazard.
But local funds haven't been used to update it. That's why one local mom took it upon herself to enter a contest to help the park.
She produced a video that was selected as a top 10 finalist out of 20,000 applicants.
"Recently we've got the community on board and we held a meeting in April and we've got the city's attention. And I think they know we're not going away. I think that they're finally listening to us and they see our efforts and I think they're going to match our efforts and help us in changing this park," says Jenn Robinson.
Jefferson Park is now one of 10 nationwide finalists in the running for the grant.
You can help the park's chances by casting a vote before June 24th on the 'Let's Play' Facebook page and select the Jefferson Park option.
