A Fort Myers middle school was briefly on lockdown Monday, according to the Lee County School District.
District officials say they kept students and faculty at Fort Myers Middle Academy in the building due to a police presence in the area near Central Avenue between U.S. 41 and Fowler in Fort Myers. The incident did not involve anyone at the school.
The principal sent out a text to parents just before noon alerting them about the lockdown. The lockdown was lifted a half hour later.
We have reached out to the Fort Myers Police Department for more information about the incident, but have not yet received details.
