SOUTHWEST FLORIDA -- A huge snow storm in the Northeast is impacting Southwest Florida in the airports.  Already more than a dozen flights have been cancelled, and even more delayed.

A look at the flight boards at Southwest Florida International Airport on Thursday morning shows numerous flights to and from the Northeast as cancelled or delayed.

Southwest Florida International Airport has issued a weather advisory on their website alerting travelers that Winter Storm Niko may impact their travel plans.

The advisory suggests travelers should check with their carrier for the most up to date information about possible delays or cancellations.

The northeastern United State is bracing for a powerful, fast-moving storm that's expected to bring more than a foot of snow in some places.

Forecasters say Thursday's snowstorm likely will snarl workday commutes across the densely populated region.
