Firefighters are investigating a fire that damaged a multi-unit home in South Fort Myers Monday afternoon.
A South Trail fire crew battling the fire told our reporter on scene that a man was alone in his home when he noticed the fire on the third floor just before noon Monday, called 911 and escaped safely. He was shaken up and did not want to speak to our reporter.
Firefighters have extinguished the flames and contained the fire to the third floor, but they are still looking for hot spots.
More people live in the building, but they had not arrived to assess the damage. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
