UPDATE (10:30AM) -- Troopers say the woman killed in a crash in Punta Gorda Thursday night was riding a bicycle.
According to Florida Highway patrol, the 58-year-old female victim was riding a bicycle on Payne Street and attempted to cross U.S. 41 at 9:05 p.m. Troopers say she rode into the path of a northbound SUV.
The bicyclist was struck by the SUV and knocked onto the roadway, where she was struck by two other vehicles.
Her identity has not been releaed yet.

One person is dead after a crash that closed the northbound lanes on U.S. 41 near Payne Street, according to FHP.
The crash happened around 9:15 p.m. Thursday night.
FHP was asking drivers to seek alternate routes as the highway was blocked for several hours. The roadway is now clear.
No further information has been released at this time.
