Lanes open after fatal crash closes part of Treeline Avenue in Fort Myers

SOUTH FORT MYERS, -- A man is now dead after a fatal crash that took place near Southwest Florida International airport.

It was reported at 2:20 p.m. on Treeline Avenue, just about halfway between Daniels Parkway and Terminal Access Road.

89-year-old Aaron Williams was traveling south on C.R. 885 when a second vehicle crossed the median directly into his path, according to police.

Williams was pronounced dead at the scene after the impact.

The second driver, a 65-year-old man who's name has not yet been released, was transported to the hospital with critical injuries.

The crash caused the southbound lanes of Treeline to close for approximately three hours.

All lanes are now cleared.
