COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -- A fatal crash investigation is under way on San Marco Road and causing some delays in the area east of Naples.
The crash happened shortly before 6 a.m. on San Marco Road (County Road 92) near Curci Road. This is just off Tamiami Trail near Collier-Seminole State Park.
The victim's vehicle overturned into the mangroves along the roadway. According to Marco Island fire, the crash may have been caused by an alligator in the road.
Florida Highway Patrol reports roadblock at the scene.
**UPDATE** -- FHP reports that the roadway is clear now at the site of the accident.
No details on the crash are available yet.
