Drive-thru robber sought in Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Investigators are looking for a man who used a handgun to rob a Fort Myers fast food restaurant without even going inside.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, it happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday.  Employees at the McDonald's on South Cleveland Avenue near Crystal Drive say the suspect approached the drive-thru window on foot and reached in through the window with a gun in his hand.

The suspect produced a black book bag and demanded that the employee hand over all the cash in the register.  Once the drawer was emptied, the suspect ran towards the rear of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The suspect is described as a young male Hispanic and 5’9”.
