CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Cape Coral toddler receiving a second chance at life, thanks to heroics by a Charlotte County deputy.

Charlotte County Corrections officer Bobby Beverly remembers the screaming of his neighbor as she pounded on his front door asking for help. Her 17 month old daughter, Zoe Acevado, had been accidentally run over by a car in their driveway.

Acevado was covered in blood and screaming as Officer Beverly assessed her injuries and called 911. Within minutes, emergency crews were on scene and Zoe was air lifted to Tampa General Hospital where she spent five days in the Intensive Care Unit.

For that, Officer Beverly was named the Corrections Officer of the Year. This isn't the first time Officer Beverly has gone above and beyond, in May of 2013, he was awarded the Lifesaver's Award after he saved the life of an inmate in his housing unit.
