Cruz, Rubio impress SWFL Republicans

Dozens braved a drizzly evening for an evening of politics and drinks.  Local Republicans gathered at Headpinz in Ft. Myers Saturday night to watch the final GOP presidential debate before the New Hampshire primary.

Some were anxious about how Senator Marco Rubio would perform.

"It's going to depend on how much they attack him," said Rubio supporter Ken Martin.  Martin said he thought Rubio handled those attacks well.

The Florida senator finished 3rd in last week's Iowa primary, but some believe he is gaining steam heading into New Hampshire.

There were also a handful of Ted Cruz supporters on hand, many of them were impressed with the Texas Senator's plan to tackle illegal immigration.

Florida's primary isn't until March 16th, but FGCU student Priscilla Pacheco thinks the state will still play a major role in deciding who is president.

"I think there will be a surge in how much Florida's vote counts.
