Emergency crews responded to a plane crash at Peter O. Knight Airport. just at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
The Tampa Police Dept. told the media that two people died in the crash, which happened as the plane was departing the airport on Davis Islands.
The aircraft was a twin-engine Cessna 310. The tail number is not known. Local authorities say the FAA and NTSB will be taking up the investigation.
According to a Wikipedia entry, the 310 is a six-seat, low-wing, monoplane that was produced by Cessna between 1954 and 1980.
