CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Scary moments taking place recently inside a popular Port Charlotte restaurant after a customer flashed a gun at another customer.
47-year-old Walter Kaufman, who works for Charlotte County, is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. His mugshot isn't available because he used to work in law enforcement.
The incident happened almost two weeks ago, on December 5th at the Applebee's on Murdock Circle in Port Charlotte.
According to the sheriff's report, the fight started because of the way Kaufman was treating a waitress. A customer stepped in and that's when Kaufman pulled out his gun. After getting threatened, the man yelled to a manager of the restaurant to call 911.
Kaufman left the restaurant and was arrested four days later. Kaufman does work for the county, but human resources says they have to wait to find how a judge rules to decide if he will keep his job.
