CAPE CORAL, Fla -- The Southwest Florida community will remember a beloved local musician Saturday morning, who passed away from COVID-19.

A virtual memorial is planned to celebrate the life of AJ Mullins.

Mullins was the lead guitarist and lead vocalist for The Collaboration Band.

Last week, Fox 4's Jessica Alpern spoke one-on-one with his band mate and friend, Willie Miller, who also battled a severe case of COVID-19.

Since the band's tragic experience with the virus, he's worked to educate others about the severity of COVID-19.

"Until it affects you, then you will understand the severity of COVID-19, it is nothing to play with it can take your life. It took AJ’s life," Miller said.

Saturday's service for AJ is set to start at 11:00 a.m. It will be followed by a live tribute from The Collaboration Band at 1:00 p.m.

The entire Southwest Florida community is invited to attend virtually.

The service can be viewed on the "In memory of Jerome AJ Mullins" YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozxuezn9_pu [youtube.com] .
