FORT MYERS, Fla. — As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact Southwest Florida, less-and-less people are making plans to leave their home.

It's a precautionary measure that could pose a threat to local animal shelters, like Gulf Coast Humane Society.

Shelter staff are hoping to continue their efforts on finding countless pets a forever home amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Wednesday morning, Fox 4 is visiting the shelter to feature several dogs and cats currently available for adoption.

GCHS will talk about the shelter's plans moving forward. Also, the many ways the community can help, such as adopting and fostering.
