BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — The Southwest Florida Event Center has closed its doors.

The company cited the logistics of concert hosting as part of the decision to close.

"The last 60 days have been difficult to be away from the hustle of the concert and event business. Considerable time has been spent evaluating the challenges of the industry moving into 2021, gauging what is going to be safest for the patron and artist alike. While social distancing for audience members may seem feasible, the logistics of putting on a concert will be tricky for the artists. "

In a press release on Wednesday, the group said it canceled shows at the venue when the virus began to impact concerts throughout the world. They were also able to refund 100% of ticket purchases, according to that statement.

The group has hosted various events and welcomed artists including Melissa Etheridge, Amy Grant and Robert Cray for the last three years.
