NCH has received confirmation from the Florida Department of Health that three additional patients have tested positive for COVID-19.
As of March 18, NCH has sent a total of 191 specimens for testing since the onset of the virus. Two COVID-19 patients are in isolation at NCH Baker Hospital, and one COVID-19 patient is at NCH North Naples Hospital.
One patient presented to the Emergency Department with COVID-19 symptoms and was tested and discharged home with instructions to self-isolate.
The second patient presented to the Emergency Department with no COVID-19 symptoms.
However, after symptoms became apparent, the patient was tested and moved into isolation.
One employee was exposed to the Emergency Department.
Fox 4 has learned that a third patient presented to the Emergency Department with COVID-19 symptoms and was moved into isolation. Unfortunately, 35 employees were exposed.
The patient who exposed 35 employees did not follow isolation instructions.
