Grab & Go meal distribution sites expanding this week

CAPE CORAL, Fla -- The School District of Lee County is increasing the number of locations families can pick up Grab & Go Meals for anyone 18 and younger.

Six new schools have been added. The sites are open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

West Zone

  • Gulf Middle School
  • Hancock Creek Elementary
  • Island Coast High School
  • J. Colin English Elementary

South Zone

  • Tanglewood Elementary

East Zone

  • Harns Marsh Elementary

The district has also added new bus stops and routes. An added bus stop near Alva and two new bus routes in Lehigh Acres will be available when service resumes Tuesday, April 14th. A ninth bus route will start in the Suncoast Estates area on Wednesday, April 15th.

Buses will stop at each of the following new locations:

Bus Route #6 **UPDATED starting Tuesday, April 14**

  • 9:45 a.m. - 2325 S. Olga Dr (Olga Community Center)
  • 11:00 a.m. - First St Al and Avenue B (Charleston Park Community)
  • 12:00 p.m. – Richmond Avenue and Woodburn Drive/Windemere Drive **NEW**


Bus Route #7 **NEW starting Tuesday, April 14**

  • 9:35 a.m. - Williams Ave & W 5th St (Williams Pool parking lot)
  • 10:35 a.m. – 5th St E & Glendale Ave (Dollar General parking lot)
  • 11:35 a.m. – Columbus Blvd & Sunrise Blvd
  • 12:20 p.m. – Columbus Blvd & Nimitz Blvd

Bus Route #8 **NEW starting Tuesday, April 14**

  • 9:45 a.m. - 5146 Leonard Blvd S – New Life Academy
  • 11:00 a.m. – Nobel Ave S & 28th St SW
  • 12:00 p.m. – Lee Cir & Lee St – South side


Bus Route #9 **NEW starting Wednesday, April 15**

  • 9:00 a.m. - Zoysia Ln & Breeze Dr
  • 9:30 a.m. – Grady Dr & Laurel Ln
  • 10:00 a.m. - Breeze Dr & Gish Ln
  • 10:30 a.m. – Tucker Ln & Grady Dr
  • 11:00 a.m. – Tucker Ln between Bogart & Ebson

Since the Grab & Go breakfast and lunch program began March 23rd, the District has served 216,288 meals. The largest day was April 9th when meals were available for Thursday, Friday and Monday. About 15,000 children picked up 92,000 meal bags for the holiday weekend.
