Fort Myers Town Council votes to reopen beaches to residents only

FORT MYERS BEACH, Fla. — The town of Fort Myers had an emergency meeting this morning to discuss reopening Fort Myers Beach.

The motion passed 3-2 that they would reopen the beaches for Fort Myers Beach residents only. You will need to provide proof.

This goes into Effect tomorrow at 7 am.

The beaches will open 7 am - 10 am on the public portion of the beach.

It is important to know this will be for exercise only, Run, walk, and bike.

Parking will remain closed.

Individuals cannot sunbathe, and no chairs, towels, coolers will be allowed.

You must wear a mask if you plan ongoing.

The Fort Myers Beach town council will hold a special meeting this Friday, May 1 at 9 am.
