ESTERO, Fla — Florida Gulf Coast University says two fraternities have been suspended for the remainder of the semester following Conduct Hearings.
Those fraternities are Phi Delta Theta and Sigma Chi.
The university confirmed that the sorority Delta Delta Delta was also placed on immediate interim suspension on Wednesday.
They will go through the conduct process next.
The university also says a small number of individual students have been placed on disciplinary probation for the remainder of the semester.
"Be assured we all find these unfortunate outcomes," President Mike Martin said in a statement.
"However, we are living through an unprecedented, deadly global pandemic. To keep everyone living, everyone must do their part, which includes making sacrifices,"
He says a few students have said the Student Code of Conduct, but the virus is unfair, and ignoring it is fundamentally wrong.
