City of Punta Gorda council members vote to approve masks

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — The City of Punta Gorda Council members voted today on whether or not to mandate masks.

Residents voiced their opinions one by one, and dozens more wrote in.

Fort Myers beach voted last week to mandate masks.

An emergency declaration was issued last Wednesday requiring people to wear masks inside businesses and outdoors when social distancing isn't possible.

Punta Gorda Council members voted unanimously to mandate masks when indoors.

This goes into effect immediately with a 90-day maximum.
