Bayfront Health to offer monoclonal antibody therapies for the treatment of some COVID cases

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. — Bayfront Health in Punta Gorda says they are offering monoclonal antibody therapies for the treatment of some cases of COVID-19.

The one-time treatment will be administered twice a week for those patients who qualify.

Monoclonal antibody therapy is approved for certain patients who:

· Have positive results of direct SARS-CoV-2 viral testing,

· Are experiencing mild to moderate COVID-19 symptoms, and

· Are at high-risk for COVID-19 symptoms progressing to severe levels (65 years or older, High BMI, Diabetes, Chronic Kidney Disease or Immunosuppressive disease, 55 years or older with heart disease, hypertension, or chronic respiratory disease).

A physician order is required, and appointments can only be made by an active physician on Medical Staff at Bayfront Health Punta Gorda.
