BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) - Authorities have identified a construction worker who died earlier this week following a southwest Florida lightning strike.
Bonita Springs fire officials tell the Naples Daily News (http://goo.gl/83Cbwu) that 29-year-old Salomon Garcia-Martinez was working on the roof deck of a development Monday afternoon when he was hit by lightning.
Battalion Chief Winthrop Telford says it appeared that Garcia-Martinez had been gathering his construction materials and preparing to take shelter. First responders tried to resuscitate Garcia-Martinez for about 25 minutes. He was eventually pronounced dead at the scene.
A representative of DeAngelis Diamond Construction, the companying overseeing the development, said they a cooperating with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
