Collier County Commissioners will introduce a proposal Tuesday at the county commission meeting temporarily banning medical marijuana in the county.
If passed, Collier would be the largest municipality in Southwest Florida to pass a freeze on marijuana dispensaries since voters legalized medicinal marijuana in Florida last fall.
The moratorium would last 6 months, while commissioners figure out how dispensaries fit into zoning laws.
Marco Island is considering a similar ordinance.
Bonita Springs, and Estero passed temporary freezes on dispensaries shortly after Amendment 2 was approved.
