Chico's facing more layoffs

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Fort Myers-based clothing store Chico's is laying off even more of its employees. It's the latest round in a series of cuts over the years.

The company says certain corporate and "field leadership" positions were affected this time.

Over the last seven years, Chico's has cut more than 300 jobs to save money.

During the recession it received more than $3 million taxpayer dollars to expand to Fort Myers, as long as it sparked economic growth. But the company says it's still in compliance.
