PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - A Port Charlotte community is on high alert as the search continues for a suspect behind an armed robbery late Tuesday night.
It happened at a home on the 22 thousand block of Lancaster Avenue.
Police say the homeowner had just gotten home from work when he noticed someone inside his house. That person, the owner says was rummaging through his belongings, even his rifles but dropped them to escape through a back window when he noticed that he was home.
The suspect is described as a white male in his late twenties, 5'10, slim build, short brown hair, buzzed on the sides. He was last seen wearing a dark green t-shirt, black shorts and possibly tennis shoes.
The police report makes no mention of a second suspect, also seen fleeing the scene.
