A student is arrested after an AR-15 rifle was found in the trunk of her car.
Deputies say the Resource Officer at Coast High School received an anonymous tip that a female student had a gun on campus.
When deputies arrived to the school and questioned the girl, she admitted to having the gun in her trunk with the safety lock on, according to a report.
Also located in the car was a magazine with 5 rounds inside with approximately 12 rounds of loose ammunition.
The student's mother explained that she asked the teen to keep the gun in the trunk of her car for safety reasons involving a family member but forgot to take it out.
