Bonita Springs daycare closes due to 'Day Without Immigrants'

Posted

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- A Bonita Springs daycare is expected to open its doors Friday after workers participated in "a day without immigrants" protests Thursday.

So many workers refused to show up to work Thursday, forcing Grace Community School to shut down.

Parents say they were told about the closure in an e-mail from the school late the day before.

The school apologized for the short notice of the closure but say they didn't have any advanced warning.

"Many of our staff have chosen to participate in the ‘Day Without Immigrants’ event, and unfortunately we will not have enough staff to ensure the safety of our students should we remain open. We regret to inform you of this at such short notice, but we didn't have advance warning."
