A Collier County judge denied bond for 30-year-old Yuzo Nishi.
Nishi was arrested Sunday night at the Sunny Acres Mobile Home Village. That's where deputies found his mother, 60-year-old Maria Bertalmio dead on the living room floor.
"I find the evidence in this case strong, the probability of guilt is evident," said Judge Rob Crown. "Therefore there is no bond."
Nishi's attorney tried to get the charges knocked down to manslaughter.
"The booking report indicates Mr. Nishi did call 911 himself, reported his mother had attacked him, and that she needed medical attention," said Nishi's attorney Jose Nunez.
Deputies have not said how Bertalmio died, although a knife was found at the scene. Nishi was treated at the scene for stab wounds, and according to deputies, told them he was in shock.
Nishi's next court date is January 9th. He's been arrested in the past for cocaine possession and driving with a suspended license.
