Ave Maria University broke ground Friday on an $11 million building to house the Catholic university's nursing program. The new builfding will also be home to performing arts venues, as well as a museum in honor of Mother Teresa of Calcutta.
"We'll see more beauty on our campus through the arts, and we'll see our students in nursing learn how to heal body and soul," said University President Jim Towey.
The performing arts venues will include a 400-seat performance hall, plus a 125-seat auditorium with a thrust stage.
The university has raised over $6.5 million to fund the first phase of construction. The final phase of construction will begin once the remaining funding has been secured.
