NAPLES, Fla. -- Smoky conditions persist in Collier County Wednesday due to the large brush fire in Picayune Strand, but that won't stop area schools from opening.
Collier County Public Schools announced Wednesday morning that all district schools are open Wednesday and operating on normal schedules.
District staff will continue to monitor the situation near the affected area of the brush fire and will stay in contact with emergency management officials throughout the day.
The smoke from the nearby fire did force Lely Elementary to be evacuated on Tuesday, but no issues are expected Wednesday.
