FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Both humans and dogs were dressed to impress at the Love is Fur Ever costume contest at World of Beer, Saturday. The organization holds events every three to four months to raise money and awareness for dog rescue.
Organizer, Victoria Frazier, says many dogs were left behind during Hurricane Irma.
"I mean the shelters were full," she explained. "A lot of people were surrendering their dogs prior to the Hurricane. Which it's very sad and now a lot of those dogs still need to find homes."
Frazier listed Paws Lee County, Lee County Domestic Animal Services and the Gulf Coast Humane Society as a few places for those interested in adopting a dog.
