Sharon Doyscher and her family escaped the cold in Canada to celebrate in southwest Florida
She says, "It's nice to have all the locals people downtown and everybody's mingling there's absolutely no problems.
And Sharon hopes it stays that way. She heard about the deadly Zombicon shooting and was a little worried about heading back downtown for such a large event. But she's breathing easier knowing the city has beefed up security.
Business owners say they're confident that the deadly downtown shooting was an isolated incident.
They want customers and visitors to feel at home and say the extra surveillance is a big help.
